Scouse Scoff Beats London Nosh: Birkenhead 4 – London 0

Fraiche announced as Britain’s best eating experience from first person to review all 162 UK Michelin star restaurants.

Food writer Richard Bagnold, reveals Birkenhead restaurant Fraiche as the best UK Michelin starred eating experience in 2017, beating top names like The Dorchester and Restaurant Gordon Ramsey.

Bagnold is the first person recorded to eat in and review all 162 UK starred restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide and has sampled the very best food the UK has to offer.

Starting as a hobby, Bagnold’s passion for food has turned into a 5-year mission and has seen him travel the length and breadth of the UK to review Britain’s top restaurants.

Major Foodie is effusive about the Birkenhead restaurant and the dishes created by chef Marc Wilkinson.

“Fraiche is my top pick for best Michelin starred eating experience in 2017– it beats the London elite for sheer gastronomic brilliance, pleasure and great fun.”

“You could easily walk past and not realise that Birkenhead hosts a national treasure in what is effectively someone’s converted living room.”

“Fraiche’s unique décor, personalised quality and homely charm combine with superb dishes and bang for your buck. Without doubt, Fraiche is my best 2017 UK eating experience” said food reviewer, Bagnold.

Fraiche was awarded its first Michelin Star in 2009 and offers an 11 course tasting menu from Wednesday to Saturday evening with a 4 course lunch each Sunday. The Wirral restaurant releases bookings for its 5 tables at 10:00 am on the first day of each month. Food fans compete to secure a reservation for the 3 months after the release date.

Bagnold added “the Michelin Guide describes the very best restaurants as ‘exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey’ – Fraiche is arguably in this category and having visited, I now see very clearly why this restaurant is booked solid for months”

The Michelin Guide is an annually published book (and now an app) that awards 1, 2 or 3 stars for the best restaurants in each country/region – just being listed in the Michelin guide can transform a restaurant’s business. Receiving 1 star can be the pinnacle of a chef’s career, with 2 and 3 star honours being awarded to the country’s most exceptional restaurants.
